MODEST COTTAGE EXTENSION

Where: Berkshire

This property had been owned by the family for generations and had been on the rental market for a great many years.  It was in need of significant renovation and updating so our clients took the opportunity to take the property over in order to make it their family home.  In the first instance, a comprehensive measured survey was undertaken in order to provide accurate drawings that form the basis of a variety of sketch proposals.

It was a relatively modest cottage so in addition to the remedial works (which included a new roof), the floor layout was reconfigured with extensions being added to both the South and North elevations.  The single storey extension incorporated a large glazed lantern providing sunlight throughout the open plan living area and kitchen.  A two bay carport was added with the grounds landscaped and the two public boundaries enclosed by traditional wrought iron fence entirely suited to its village setting.
