REPLACEMENT THREE-STOREY APARTMENTS

Where: Maidenhead

The proposals involve the construction of a new building to provide ten apartments, to replace an existing substantial three-storey dwelling. The building has been positioned to follow the building line along Norfolk Road and has been carefully designed to respect the scale and proportions of the neighbouring properties and the relationship to them.

The design adopts a traditional approach with appropriate proportions to the building form and fenestration. This has been achieved by articulating the building façade as a series of gables that reflect and respond sympathetically to the appearance of the adjacent buildings.

Similarly, by setting the accommodation on the upper floor predominantly within the roof space, a suitably low eaves height has been achieved along the eastern and western elevations
