NEW SIX BEDROOM HOUSE BARN CONVERSION

Where: Wallingford, Oxfordshire

Our clients owned a house dating from the 17th Century, which had several former agricultural outbuildings. For Clients that wanted to move out of their old house due to the historical property being harder to maintain, these outbuilding presented an ideal opportunity to create a house on the site that the client could move into on completion.

The site is in the heart of a small village and in the curtilage of the Grade-II listed 17th Century house. The council’s policy restricted new houses within the village, but it was accepted that this project made good use of the land.

The client wanted to create a house suitable for guests and entertaining, as well as having a good-quality art studio. The building was to have informal, relaxed appearance and character.
