Arts & Crafts Influenced New Homes

Constructed within Walled Garden of Grade II Listed House

Where: Berkshire

Our clients were general building contractors who purchased a Grade II listed house with a vast walled garden which contained a large barn, a small barn and a laundry/general-purpose brick outbuilding.

A pair of substantial dwellings were proposed for these developer-clients to maximise the use of their property. These new homes were designed with the influence of arts and crafts architecture and is sited within the walled garden of the large, listed house.

The design respected the need for a modest ridge height, whilst incorporating these Arts & crafts inspired elements in the form of the chimney, dormers and Window details.

MWA were subsequently appointed to further develop proposals for the conversion of the barns and outbuildings on the property into further residential units.
